I usually never give any restaurant 5 stars but, it's the first time I have tried it and it's legit. I have been craving pozole and I was very skeptical because there are not very many places that can actually pull it off. As I waited they brought me a plate with lemon, onion, diced lettuce and oregano. As they walked over with the bowl of pozole, I could see the steam coming from the plate. As they laid it out in front of me it looks amazing. They absolutely pulled it off. Best pozole I have ever had at a restaurant. I also had a taco al pastor and jamaica. Both were great. Definitely recommend this place and i will be coming back here to try more food

As you can tell, my review will not be the most positive but won't be terrible. 1. The menu on Olamendi's website is outdated, I don't frequent weekly so how is a customer supposed to know? Called up to order with the combo numbers and notes written down for our order, spoke for a moment with a woman who was unbelievably catty for NO reason. I started explaining what I wanted until she interjected midsentence and said "We don't have that." I said; "Oh, okie do you not have enchiladas anymore?" " No, we have them." "Alright, must have written the number down wrong, could I please-" "I don't know what menu you're looking at but that's not ours!" "... It says Olamendis on the menu I'm reading right no-" "We don't go by that menu *rude laugh*" "Oh... How weird it's on the website, I'll just send someone down to look at your menu in pers-." "*bitchy giggle* yeah you do that!" *click* And just like that, I was hung up on. And just like that, you lost a customer! 2. The food may be tasty, but the portions are so out of whack. I understand marketing and making popular, quality dishes more expensive but smaller? Funny how I could easily spend less at an actual sit down Mexican place and get BETTER food. 3. The price- come ON now, it's not as though we're paying for the ambiance here, it's rediculous to charge so much when we live in California and have SO many places to choose. If the service, staff or website were on point then I wouldn't even complain... But I'm not going to pay more for no service somewhere that won't even get a soda fountain, only CANS of soda? 4. The catering/delivery drivers are absolutely terrible on the road, pumping the brakes at green lights and accidentally making partial turns just to whip back out into traffic without indicating. Also witnessed drivers multiple times at an apartment complex I frequent stop in the middle of lanes (that are no stopping zones and red curbs) with hazards on, blocking cars and garages and inconveniencing residents, it seems to have gotten a bit better at said complex however. I've worked delivery, I get that it's hard to find your way from time to time but don't cause accidents over something as menial as food, put the address in your phone or look it up BEFORE you get in the car so you know where you're going!!! 3 stars for food, 0 for everything else.

I finally decided to give this place a try. It was ok. I can't say that it was bad, but I've had better. I did enjoy seeing all the photos. It gave the place a feel of coming to a family business which I like. They have tables for dining in and someone will bring the food to the tables which is kind of cool. I was expecting it to have that Rubio's look on this inside, but it didn't have that fast food look. I may return and try something different, but I can't say my burrito was anything special.

The food here isn't bad but with so many other choices around I'm not in a hurry to come back to this place ... food is OK to pretty good ... but nothing special Taco Tuesdays are $1.50 each except Fish Taco and Carne Asada Taco which are $2.85 each (regular price) Fish Taco *** 3 STAR *** Not bad ... but a bit too sour as they doused it with lime juice which is unfortunate since it kinda mask the taste of the fish itself ... they should've just give you those lemon wedgy thingy on the side, but the green sauce (creamy cilantro ???) they gave you is pretty good albeit rich tasting Beef Taco **** 4 STAR **** This is the shredded beef style (machaca) and is surprisingly tasty ... (better than it looks) They give you a choice of either crispy or soft taco .... in my opinion the crispy taco is a nice touch, however the filling is not as much as the soft taco since the taco shell is kinda narrow and it limits on how much can be stuffed in it without breaking the shell Chicken Taco **** 4 STAR **** Pretty good and nicely seasoned Prepare to wait a while if you come here on Tuesdays .... one time I was told on the phone that food will be ready in 25 minutes .... but when I got there half an hour later I still had to wait another 30 minutes .... including waiting in line to pay since there is only one line (no special line for to-go order only) Seating inside is available but somewhat limited in number and for small groups only. There are a few tables outside by the sidewalk for a nice evening relaxing dinner at affordable price. Location is next to Sprouts in the same complex as the Claim Jumper ...

This was my first Olamendis express experience and I'm a fan of the original restaurant in Capo Beach. But this, poor service, mediocre food mixed with not very nice seating. I won't be back.

One star because they were closed on a Monday night! Is that normal? I used to frequent this location a lot, and I never remember them being closed at such inconvenient times.

First time trying it. It was not bad and it was not good it was average. It smelled good while they were cooking it but the smell did not match the taste unfortunately. The salsa just tastes like tomatoes which was disappointing.

The Cantaloupe Juice is the very best! Their ceviche is always fresh. You can never go wrong with their tamales either!

Olamendi's is hands down the most authentic Mexican food in the area. While surrounded by countless other wannabe Mexican restaurants, Carlos creates the real authentic flavors of Mexico with the freshest ingredients and a lot of heart and soul. The first time I came in he brought me into the kitchen to see the popular fresh red snapper marinating for the hungry evening crowd, then spontaneously offered some samples in a whirlwind of enthusiasm. I had to catch my breath and remind myself I was in a strip mall not back in my old neighborhood of Manhattan being treated like royalty because I was spending the big bucks. Carlos cares about his food and his customers. That is rare to find these days. There is something for everyone on this menu of secret family recipes. Even my puppies are delighted to find a delicate and moist version of pork carnitas and howl every time I inform them that we are on the way to taco night.. All of the meats are very lean and cooked to perfection. I usually go with the fish or shredded beef tacos and cannot resist their rice and beans. I always order rice. You must try it even if you are on a diet. Taco Tuesday night is the best in town and they fry the shells to order unlike many places. They are crispy and not oily. You can also order soft tacos. The quality of the meats are excellent and with the prices you can order one of each and decide which one is your favorite. I can't say enough about the quality of food and service and really enjoy visiting there with my family and my puppies that are always welcome on the patio.

We are so very lucky to live so close to Olamendi's! Great food and great service! We have never had anything but great experiences when we come. I love the carnitas crispy tacos. The enchiladas and burritos are amazing. Taco Tuesdays are the best! There is no better place for yummy Mexican food!

I loved Olamendi's when I lived in California and now, I miss it so much. This place was the most authentic Mexican place in RSM, hands down. The carnitas burrito with beans, rice and guac is amazing. This place is small so you're best best it to get it to go. Great for a weeknight when you don't have time for dinner or on your lunch break, like I used to do.

I love Olamendis I'm a big fan of this Mexican restaurant I had the carne asada burrito wet with green sauce. The homemade lemonade was just what the doc ordered after a long Oneil park bike ride.

Not very good, ordered a chicken quesadilla and it was so greasy the whole bottom was soggy and orange oily grease was dripping everywhere. Wouldn't order again but big portion size

I've lived in the area for several years and never knew this place even existed. A friend suggested I stop in for the Taco Tuesday specials so I did. Overall I wasn't that impressed. The tacos were okay but nothing worth coming back for. Like most places that offer cheap taco's on Tuesdays I felt the quality of the taco lacked a little bit. It's hard to judge a place based on their taco Tuesdays but unfortunately that's all I have to go on here. I ordred an assortment of the $1.00 tacos but nothing really stood out as great. Perhaps in the future I'll come back and try something different of the menu. As for Taco Tuesday this place needs to step up their game with so many other spots in the general vicinity.

Just the greatest Mexican food in this area. A friend and I love this place. We can wholeheartedly recommend the combination plate consisting of a crisp beef taco, a chicken enchilada with green chili sauce, refried beans and Spanish rice - yummy!! Their complimentary chips and salsa are delicious. Their food always tastes fresh - because it is fresh!. The owner, who manages the place, is a friendly guy and makes everyone feel welcome. He and the other staff do a great job. The prices here seem very reasonable to us - you get a lot for your dollar!

It took 30 minutes to make 4 tacos to go. When I asked if that was normal the person behind the counter said "on tuesday, yes" and then stared back blankly. People that ordered after me, got thier food first. Over Priced/Average food + Terrible service = do not go here.

I ordered 3 carnitas tacos the small black beans and a small side of salsa ( because they charge for salsa) and it was $14 bucks. I thought wow! $14 bucks, that's expensive. They won't give you more than 2 tiny cups of salsa. Not even 1 for each taco ordered. YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR MORE. That's ridiculous. What Mexican restaurant charges extra for salsa? They say because it's made from scratch....as apposed to what??? From a jar??? I would expect it to be from scratch like any good Mexican restaurant. I have never been charged extra for salsa. Loved the tacos but giving three stars for charging extra for salsa which should be delicious and free.

Best place for Mexican food in Mission Viejo! The staff is extremely kind. The food is great. I've been coming here for more than 7 years. Taco Tuesday is awesome and their fish tacos are super yummy.

Good food but they charge for salsa. I'm a salsa fanatic and need more than one little cup of salsa. I've never been charged for salsa before. The cashier told me it's because they make everything from scratch, which is expected in the first place, and she said it a bit snidely. Pretty good excuse for charging for salsa. Sorry but this really bugged me. Apart from that I have no complaints.

Another attempt to find good authentic Mexican food in South County and my search will continue. It wasn't terrible but not good enough to come back. I had fish tacos that were a little dry and the beans and rice were unseasoned. Next stop...Baja fish tacos.

I love this place. Enchiladas, tacos, burritos, tamales are all great. What I love are the aguas frescas. Melon is my favorite. The people here are so friendly and seem to know everyone that comes in. They have pics all over the walls. Great local Mexican restaurant.

This restaurant is not worth the canoeing trip from your swamp. I was intrigued to taste the black beans but then realized those things tasted as bad as the poop in my swamp. My donkey tried the enchiladas and he was in the "hombres" room for hours. Fiona on the other hand had the tacos and the smells coming out of that women were worse than anything I've smelled before. After my dining was ogre I went back to my swamp and saw those beans again. It was not a pretty sight. Olamendi's is not love. Olamendi's is not life.

Terrible customer service took them 30 min for a soggy Chile and two street steak tacos It was 2 on a Sunday we asked for our money back and was told that she didn't know how to give refunds. I KNOW a cashier that doesn't know how to give a refund. Then she proceeded to tell us this isn't Taco Bell. That it takes time to make it. Hate to tell her that I have been to olamendies before and ordered that exact same items it takes like 10 min to make. Well I will take my money else ware maybe right next door to Baja Fresh

We moved from Orange County 11 years ago and I still regularly crave their black bean and cheese burrito with red sauce. Every time we are down that way we try to go. I haven't found anything like theirs in my area. Please open one in Murrieta! Their salsa is one of my favorites too.

Seriously love this place, ive been coming here since I was a child. By far some of the best mexican food I've had! It's a small little place that's very casual, but if you want some good mexican food this is the place. We usually just take it to go since the facility is so small, but well worth the great food!

I've been going to Olamendi's for about a year now. I don't cook, and tend to get their takeout about 2-3 times a week. I always order the same thing, everytime. I have found that they screw up my order 1 out of 3 times or they leave something OUT of the order, like sides of salsa that you specifically request. Up until recently, I overlooked this because the food is so good. HOWEVER, one of my biggest pet peeves is when people act like they don't speak English. They know it enough to take your money, but when you come back with a problem, suddenly a translator is needed. And that's UNACCEPTABLE, being that I live in Southern California - in the United States. Recently, I called and placed my usual order. It was ready for pick up when I got there. When I got home, I discovered they had left out a side of salsa that I specifically ordered (this is not the first time that they've done this...more like the 4th or 5th time). So I called the restaurant and let them know. The guy who answered the phone suddenly acted like he did not speak English and kept repeating that they did not charge me for the salsa, so there shouldn't be any problem. THEY MISSED THE POINT. I tried to explain that he was missing the point and he kept repeating that they didn't charge me. I had no choice but to hang up on this guy. He obviously didn't understand, so not sure why they had him answering the phone. He also presented himself as the MANAGER of the location...so that right there should indicate that he understands English...but again, he clearly didn't. As a result, I will never spend another dime at this restaurant. If they can't understand English enough to solve a simple problem, then they don't deserve my business. There are plenty of other Mexican food places around and I'm sure I'll find a new spot soon. SMH!

The service was pretty slow only to get the worst taquitos i have ever had. The ones at the super market freezer put these to shame. They came naked and bland with the worst quality beef. The guacamole had so many tomatoes that it really should not be called guacamole. Will not go back here again.

Reading these reviews is making me worried..... But my experience with this place so far has been good, so for now I'm keep my faith in them. I've been going here now and then for many years. SERVICE: It's true that in the past, there were a couple times when I ordered over the phone for pickup, and when I arrived 15-20 minutes later, they still hadn't finished my food, despite the fact that they quoted me at 10 minutes. One time they hadn't even started my food when I showed up, and yes, it had been at least 10-15 minutes since I ordered, and no, the place was not busy...there were no other customers there, actually. But all of the times that I've been there lately the service has been very quick, surprisingly quick, and the staff have ALWAYS been friendly to me. FOOD: I love their food. Hopefully I'll never bite into a screw as one yelper said :-( I'm Pescatarian, and this place is surprisingly friendly to vegetarians and fish eaters. Their veggies dishes are delicious, and their veggie enchiladas are the best. The burrito is also great. Back in the days when I ate chicken, I used to order their "Chicken Mexi Bowl". Idk if they still have that on the menu, but if you ask for it they'll make it for you. My mother and I both loved it. We still go there sometimes for lunch when she's in town. They also have good fresh juices, like canteloupe juice! Overall, my experience with this place has been consistently delicious. The food was never cold, never seemed unhygenic (though I didn't watch them cook it...).

Have been eating at Olamendis for several years. Tonight on Taco Tuesday we ordered 4 tacos. After waiting 55 minutes we walked out without our tacos. The women who took our order had no apology when asked after 45 minutes where were our tacos only to comment that it was Taco Tuesday and we needed to understand. My wife and I watched several people get their food ahead of us who ordered after we did. Of course we will go back but not if that same women is taking orders. Very rude and no customer service. Disappointed in Olamendis tonight.

The food here is good. Very authentic. It's a shame that the landlords are so stupid as to put two Mexican restaurants in the same plaza together. (Not to mention the 2 frozen yogurt places as well). I can see that the new place is hurting Olamendis business, but I will still come here when I am looking for a more "authentic" Mexican meal, as opposed to the Americanized offerings across the plaza.

This is a small hole in the wall with very good authentic Mexican food. I love the enchiladas and the albondigas soup is yummy. The owners are warm hearted and know how to treat customers. Try one of the fruit drinks. My favorite is the mixed orange and lemonade. They deserve 5 stars for using local organic vegetables (from a farm in Laguna). I was there and saw the farmer dropping off the vegetables.

This Mexican restaurant is great! I remember this place as a kid I love Mexican food and olamendis is the best I ever had so once I go to California to visit I will be going there to enjoy their great food and remember the memories. I wish they would open one up in New York lol.

Absolutely enjoy going to this place. First off after coming for about 8 years (good old highschool days) I have become friends with the owners Carlos and Miguel they are awesome! Carlos never ceases to amaze me with knowing what I want before I even want it!. I only have one request that Carlos and Miguel always accomplish for me (whatever I get extra extra spicy). The Mexican food here is one of the best in the area. The ingredients are always fresh from local farmers witch makes the potato tacos so scrumptious. Give this place a try you won't regret it. Oh don't forget to try the special drinks that Carlos mixes don't have a name for them yet but he'll know what to do.

Best Cheese Chiles Rellenos I've had in a long time, I am a Chef and world traveler, expert in good food, which most of the times is Slow food, so please, give'em time, if you are in too much of a hurry then you won't appreciate anything but fast food, original Mexican food is not mistery meat burgers, it takes time. Salsa is fresh and savory, Jamaica (hibiscus) and Horchata (rice) waters are so flavorful and cold. Enjoy!

Authentic Mexican food in our backyard, truly the most outstanding food experience I have each time I visit. I have never chosen a plate from the menu, because I always ask the owner to recommend me something, and every single time, it's finger-licking, tummy-filling, wish-I-had-seconds GOOD! Delicious food and fantastic service, best combination for a meal with the family!

Not terrible but for a hole-in-the-wall Mexican place, there's a lot better out there. Food is okay, no issues with service while we were there, but for the price I expected more.

"0 stars" Just walked in and ordered a black bean and cheese burrito. Paid $6.00 and was given a burrito smaller than a $1 burrito from Taco Bell. Plus, tortilla was flimsy and not folded properly so beans were spilling out each side. Sent it back and they added another scoop of beans but it wasn't folded right. Couldn't pick it up. Tried to and it fell apart. Used to be great place but I handed them the plate back and walked out. Very disappointing. Now I am at Baja Fish Tacos next door enjoying a great burrito.

I've been coming to this location for about 15 years. All of the Olamendis are good but this one's my favorite... Mostly because they serve back beans instead of pinto, and the service is really good. This is also one of the cheaper locations and you order at the counter rather than at a table, so you don't have to tip (except for maybe a dollar or two at the counter if you want). :) I almost always get the black bean & cheese burrito which is served wet with red or green sauce and cheese on top. I'm sure their whole menu is great but I always find myself craving this burrito so I have trouble branching out. I've also tried their taquitos and potato tacos which are both terrific. Their salsa is one of the best too! The most unique item that I really enjoy is their homemade lemonade. I've never had anything like it... sooo good! I highly recommend this place - great service, great food, inexpensive, and very consistent!!

YUM! I am a huge fan! I've had almost everything on the menu except the fish and some soups. I especially love any crispy tacos and the soft carnitas tacos! The lemonade is great as well, they put oranges in it so it is not so tart. I love the service here and whoever is behind the counter is always super nice. Even if the service wasn't so great I would still love this place because I LOVE their food! The only thing that I would change about this place is the prices, they are a little steep to me but the food is so good I keep coming back!

Our go to Mexican place. Always fresh and tasty. Love their carnitas! The owner is also great, always remembers us and takes care and attention over the food and the customers. Skip Baja Fish Tacos next door and eat something more authentic.

I've been meaning to write this review for a while, but i don't like waiting for my tacos on tuesday. Absolutely the best, most tastey tacos in town (hint - get crispy). Try the mexican potato taco with verde salsa . Consistently delicious. I'm there every week. Very nice - great people.

Stopped by to grab some food on my way home. I have never been to this restaurant, so I decided to stick with something every MEXICAN joint has - Taquitos (rolled tacos). I ordered the food to go. The prices are a little steep. For three rolled tacos, rice and beans, the total was almost $10! The service was quick (had my food in less than 10 minutes). The food is mediocre at best. I could come back if the cravings occurred, but I don't think this will ever be an "OMG I MUST HAVE THIS FOOD NOW" kind of place.
(3)
Eric M.
You don't always think quality or quantity when you go in for a lunch special. He'll, I was thinking about adding another item but happily didn't. For $5.99 I got a can of soda, a large bag of chips, fresh-made salsa, the best black beans I've had and some yummy rice. Oh of course there was the chicken taco made with real chicken. Just amazing. I wish I lived closer. This would be a weekly treat!
(5)

I can't believe I've lived in this area for 8 years and never tried this place....OMG!!!! Their crispy tacos are amazing fresh fried, not pre-made like a lot of places these days. Their verde enchiladas are heavenly (especially with their famous carnitas). Prices are reasonable and portions are perfect! Their homemade salsa is the perfect balance of heat, tang and chunks. Seriously considering driving down to Dana Point to try the full restaurant. If you want a real, honest and (sort of) healthy Mexican fix, GO HERE.

How do I say it? There is something so beautiful about eating cuisine that tastes like it came out of mama's kitchen. If you go to Celinda's you are getting a completely different style of Mexican food than if you go to one of the Olamendi's restaurants. Although I love Celinda's, this place is wonderful for a change. I've been a regular here since high school, so not as long as Celinda's, but it's another place that hits the spot when I'm in the mood for Mexican food, which is most days of my life. Mexican food is a lifestyle in Orange County. If I feel like being really healthy, then I get the veggie bowl. I also love their fish taco and make sure they give you the sauce on the side! They forget sometimes. All their plates are good, but a little pricey for me. My fiance loves the black bean and cheese burrito wet with red sauce. Salsa is good too. They give chips and salsa free with your meal. Yum, yum and yum!

If I don't have at least one al pastor taco a week I become a sad, sad man. I would have more but the limited seating is uncomfortable so I choose to have my taco extravaganza at home. You need to give these tacos a shot.

Olamendi's is great! The food here is top notch quality. Compare to a Los Golindrinos but better if you will. Anyways, the food can be a little pricey but hey, aren't we in it for the quality? I recommend the carne asada burritos, the shrimp and carne asada bowl, and the breakfast burritos are great (suasage or bacon). Olamendi's uses fresh ingredients and everything is made from scratch! They have a unique menu offering almost everything you would expect at a mexican food restaurant.

Finished hiking in the canyon, and HAD to eat. The shopping plaza had several other food places, a grill, a tex mex, and a fro yo. This mexican place had a line and seemed to be the only one doing business. This had to be the place. Ordered the Mole Poblano and it was surprisingly great. I had to try it because the man behind the counter who was so pleasant and friendly, obviously the owner andThe entree i choose said, "Favorito de mama." Mama was right!

great place to have a drink (beer or aguas frescas) the aguas frescas are made freshly everyday by their wonderful employees. the management isn't great but the employees are magnificent the ladies are wonderful cooks. Great place if you're looking to have a vegetarian meal...their veggies aren't cooked with animal products; and are packed with flavor. great place to chill

Visiting a friend in southern cal and wanted some yummy mexican food so she suggested this place. Gotta say I was NOT impressed. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, there just wasn't much of it. I ordered the cheese enchilada and beef taco combination. The enchilada was tiny, more like a sample, and dry. The black beans were pretty good- never had those before. The taco was good too, the meat was juicy and seasoned right. But I had more lettuce in my styrofoam box than any opther item in there! I guess I'm just used to getting "hearty" portions. They seemed to skimp on what I would normally pay $8.95 on. Good salsa though...

Made with love. The bf recently convinced me to give this place another shot. I'll admit it...maybe I was wrong. Maybe I was having a bad day. The food was pretty decent. It wasn't the best but they are definitely taking a lot of care in making every dish coming out of the kitchen. The service is probably the best part. The man who seems to be running the show is super-personable, friendly, and is good-humored. Pros: Friendly service, good quality ingredients, cooked to order (your food hasn't been sitting under a food warmer all day!), black beans, agua frescas, flautas, carnitas. Cons: Somewhat high prices for what you are getting, small indoor dining area, outdoor area tends to be crowded with soccer moms & tweens (I find both of these elements to be cons...maybe these are pros for you...idk)

IMHO, this is the best REAL Mexican food you can buy in Mission Viejo. The carnitas are first-rate, the tamales are like home cooking, and the refried beans and rice taste like my abuelita used to make. With all that, my Number One favorite is the chorizo/egg/potato burrito, no onions, with pinto beans added and topped with the amazing tomatillo green sauce. I dunno how she does it, but the main cook whips up this 'bomba' and it is the lightest, fluffiest chorizo burrito you can imagine. I was very sad when they closed down the RSM store because the fountain patio was aces to have lunch at, but the food quality is always XLNT. My congrats to Carlos and Miguel for maintaining their traditional faboo food.

Olamendi's, either you want your food to go or just eat in there you don't have to wait for long, no matter what your orders is. Just as you sit down they give you this chips with the house special salsa. I love their Albondagias soup,it's made with meatball and all the vegetables like carriots, potatos, tomatos ect, I just have to have it atleast once a week, because it taste sweet, sour and little spicy at the same time, and its very delicious. I don't think you could find it anywhere yet. everytime you walk in, the owner with the great smiles and a lovely welcome makes you feel like you walk in a kitchen where your dad use to make food for you when you were young. not only the food were delicious, the price is right, the service is really good, it also has huge parking lot, unlike some placese you have to drive aroung to find a parking.

Getting worst with each visit. This is a review I hate to write because i really liked this place a few years back but it seems it's worst in every aspect each time i decide to risk another quick take out. Carnitas were what first made me love the place. last 3 times they were warmed over (read dried and WAY overcooked) chunks of barely recognizable mystery meat served with a dark mush emanating a vaguely beany odor and rice that was at best cooked a couple of days earlier. All served over a dirty counter, warmed in a blackened grill that doesn't look like it has ever been cleaned by sweaty staff without the slightest concept of personal higiene or anything resembling a clean outfit, never mind uniform.

Oh man, Olamendi's! I've been going to the place for maybe eight years now. In that time, it's been so wildly inconsistent. It'll be great and then will have periods where I'm totally dissatisfied, and then it'll be amazing again. These days, I just try to stick to their carnitas, as it's rarely bad. Usually in burrito form with salsa verde. The $1.25 tacos on Tuesdays aren't a bad deal, either. I'm not a fan of their mole. The flautas are usually pretty tasty, though. The service has always been very friendly to me. Quite often, they'll offer me some chips and salsa or a free drink while I wait for my to-go order if it's going to be a bit of a wait. Speaking of which, I really enjoy both the hibiscus and cantaloupe drinks that they have. It's one of those places I go to that can have bad food sometimes, but the food, when it's good, outweighs the bad experiences I've had.

I came here, needing a fix for my Mexican food craving and I was very satisfied. Olamendi's serves homemade Mexican food, and it certainly did taste just that. I ordered their "World Famous Olamendi's Carnitas" combo plate, and it's probably the best choice for a new customer. The carnitas were absolutely moist, tender, and full of flavor. Included with the combo is choice of juice (lemonade, sweet juice, melon, and iced tea), mexican rice, black beans, flour tortillas, and guacamole mixed with lettuce and onions. Since it was today's special, it came out to 7.50. Not bad at all for so much food. Not only was the food great, but the people were very hospitable. I appreciate the extra salsa and tortilla chips they packed for us. I am a happy new customer. Please go to Olamendi's, and not Taco Bell :/

Their crispy chicken tacos are, without a doubt, the best tacos I have ever eaten (not exaggerating at all) their food is truly wonderful... nixon used to eat at their original location I took off 1 star because of the environment... If you want to eat in a better setting, I'd recommend the olamendi's in san clemente. This one is ideal for takeout or if you just want a casual lunch outside. Another plus is it's right next to golden spoon (the mecca of fro yo) Just give their crispy chicken tacos a try (or their bean and cheese burrito with red sauce... absolutely huge and amazinggggg)

When I first moved to Mission Viejo, I immediately wanted to stake out the local Mexican food, so I could get my burrito fix whenever I pleased. Now, I don't regret going to Olamendis, because now I know better than to go there again. The food was pricey for what we were getting, which was just a burrito, some chips and guac and a bowl of tortilla soup. We showed up around 7:30 and were the only ones in there, which is never a good sign. We ordered our food and even though we were the only ones there, it took a good 20 minutes to get to us. When we did get the food, it was about as bland and flavorless as Mission Viejo itself (badumchi!). Not to mention, COLD. I mean, no doubt, it was healthy. I wasn't necessarily there for the greasy spectacularness of the food I knew and loved living in Costa Mesa, but still. I was thinking maybe I just went there on the wrong night, but reading the other reviews, maybe not. I added the extra star, because I do love small local places, the guy behind the counter was really polite and the guacamole was decent.

Woulda given a 4 star but i heard they cook veggies in the beef stew, kinda sucks for the vegans. I eat meat! La carne es buena asi que volar una cometa! Great take out!

Used to go to this place all the time for their albondiga soup...I mean like once a month - it was that good. Now we rarely get it. The management changed a few years ago and it hasn't been the same since. Am going to try other Olamendi's nearby to compare! Good luck!

man, can i just say that yelp needs to install a spell check re-router in the search engine? because i spelled this place about 4 different ways until i got it right. i used to come here a lot until one of the guys confessed to me that they cook their VEGETABLES IN THE BEEF STEW. and then he said, "lol but don't tell anyone because we might lose some business lollolol" SO SPREAD THE WORD THAT OLAMENDI'S IS A BUNCH OF STEW-PID LIARS.

I read the other reviews, and I was a bit surprised, to say the least. That said, we were hungry as we (randomly) found this place (I live in LA). We were hoping to find a Chipotle or a Baja, and we hardly saw the place between the Starbucks and the Yogurth place. But we were wowed! The carnitas meat in the MexiBowl was amazing - succulent, perfectly spiced, amazingly tasty. My wife had a fish taco, she said it was the best she's had in a very long time, and the one bite I had convinced me. The hibiscus ice tea was super-yummy too. For me, it was my best Mexican experience in a long time. The next time I'm in the OC I'll come back!

the food good. we enjoyed our shredded beef tacos and the guacamole was fresh and flavorful.... but maybe the best part was the sweet man at the register - he made sure we had everything we needed.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

(3)Michael W.

(2)J R.
One star because they were closed on a Monday night! Is that normal? I used to frequent this location a lot, and I never remember them being closed at such inconvenient times.
(1)Robin L.
First time trying it. It was not bad and it was not good it was average. It smelled good while they were cooking it but the smell did not match the taste unfortunately. The salsa just tastes like tomatoes which was disappointing.
(2)Elise S.

(5)Paul C.
Excellent Chicken Vegetable Soup and Black Bean and Cheese Burrito with Red Sauce.
(5)Gabrielle U.
(5)Mark H.
I love Olamendis I'm a big fan of this Mexican restaurant I had the carne asada burrito wet with green sauce. The homemade lemonade was just what the doc ordered after a long Oneil park bike ride.
(4)Sarah W.
Not very good, ordered a chicken quesadilla and it was so greasy the whole bottom was soggy and orange oily grease was dripping everywhere. Wouldn't order again but big portion size
(2)Nick H.
(3)James M.
(5)Doctor J. M.
It took 30 minutes to make 4 tacos to go. When I asked if that was normal the person behind the counter said "on tuesday, yes" and then stared back blankly. People that ordered after me, got thier food first. Over Priced/Average food + Terrible service = do not go here.
(1)Cat N.
(3)Lorena Z.
Best place for Mexican food in Mission Viejo! The staff is extremely kind. The food is great. I've been coming here for more than 7 years. Taco Tuesday is awesome and their fish tacos are super yummy.
(5)Timothy O.
(3)Michelle S.
Another attempt to find good authentic Mexican food in South County and my search will continue. It wasn't terrible but not good enough to come back. I had fish tacos that were a little dry and the beans and rice were unseasoned. Next stop...Baja fish tacos.
(3)MJ M.
I love this place. Enchiladas, tacos, burritos, tamales are all great. What I love are the aguas frescas. Melon is my favorite. The people here are so friendly and seem to know everyone that comes in. They have pics all over the walls. Great local Mexican restaurant.
(5)Shrek I.
(1)Allen B.
(1)Angela B.
We moved from Orange County 11 years ago and I still regularly crave their black bean and cheese burrito with red sauce. Every time we are down that way we try to go. I haven't found anything like theirs in my area. Please open one in Murrieta! Their salsa is one of my favorites too.
(4)Christine A.
Seriously love this place, ive been coming here since I was a child. By far some of the best mexican food I've had! It's a small little place that's very casual, but if you want some good mexican food this is the place. We usually just take it to go since the facility is so small, but well worth the great food!
(5)Raquel K.
SMH!
(2)Vance C.
The service was pretty slow only to get the worst taquitos i have ever had. The ones at the super market freezer put these to shame. They came naked and bland with the worst quality beef. The guacamole had so many tomatoes that it really should not be called guacamole. Will not go back here again.
(2)Kaito C.
(5)Jim O.
(1)Sarah C.
This little family owned Mexican restaurant is awesomely delicious! Love it! The owner is so sweet and he definitely takes care of his customers. Great service, amazing and fresh food! Yum!
(5)Adrian K.
(4)Russell B.
Bomb!
(4)Dom T.
Although the people here are friendly, the service was slow and the food wasn't anything special.
(2)S R.
(5)Stephen D.
This Mexican restaurant is great! I remember this place as a kid I love Mexican food and olamendis is the best I ever had so once I go to California to visit I will be going there to enjoy their great food and remember the memories. I wish they would open one up in New York lol.
(5)Chris A.
(5)Samantha L.
I LOVE THIS SPOT. My family and my boyfriends family eat here all the time. The owner sees us, already know our order and have everything started in the back. They really know how to make you feel like a valued customer. We love Olmedi's!
(5)Angeles J.
Enjoy!
(5)Cris V.
(5)MyKidzHave4Pawz S.
Favorite Mexican food ever. Love their burritos. Been going here for over 13yrs and have never had a bad meal. Keep up the great work Olamendies. I recommend it to everyone I know if they want good quality Mexican food.
(5)Nelson D.
Not terrible but for a hole-in-the-wall Mexican place, there's a lot better out there. Food is okay, no issues with service while we were there, but for the price I expected more.
(3)Rob D.
(1)Stephanie J.
(5)Jim B.
Meh. I've experienced better.
(2)L B.

I love this place. Such friendly and personal service: all the dishes are wonderful. The carnitas and ceviche are especially great.

Excellent service, quality food at a good price. The owners make you feel right a home.

I bit into a wood screw that somehow got into the salsa, enough said.
